Creativebug Love.....

I'm back from a week in California.  Feeling good and refreshed.  What is it about that place?  The Eucalyptus in the air, the cool breeze, the plants growing everywhere.  I sure do love it there.  One big reason is that I'm usually there to see my friends at Creativebug.  I shot three new classes last week, and I can't wait to share more about them here soon.  In the meantime, here are some behind the scenes photos.  What a crew!  I had so much fun....I really can't say enough great things about these peeps.   Every stinking one of them is a joy to work with.   Here are some more pictures from last week.

There are lots of other great workshops too- check out my friends Cal, Jill, Courtney, Liesl and Jody.  I'm hooked on Jody's Iris Fold Card class- I stayed up late one night making a zillion of them.  It's a really fun technique.   I was excited to get to go out to dinner with Jody and Courtney last week in the Haight.  What a treat to meet an online friend in person.  Three cheers to Creativebug for introducing me to some of my favorite people.

Happy New Year, and a deadline.......

Happy New Year everybody!  This year, the holidays felt more welcome than ever.  I had a very busy December, and relished almost every minute of my break.   It felt so good to bake cookies and lounge around, to indulge in this fabulous cocktail, and to catch up on last season's Downton Abbey.   Things are slowly getting back to normal around here, with the rogue cocktail and bits of Babka left over from New Year's Eve popping up now and then.   I mean, it would be too bad to say goodbye altogether to the merriment, no? Samplers of the Month: Pansies and Feather Stitches...

I spent Friday packaging up everyone's monthly subscriptions, and somehow managed to get them out the door and into the mailbox before Saturday.  Some of you might even have them on your kitchen counters by now.... I've been having so much fun sitting in the glow of the radiator stitching these Colorburst Samplers in the late afternoons.  In a season without a lot of color, they make me really happy.   This one, Pansy, is in the mail now.  I stitched mine with back stitch, running stitch, french knots, and Algerian eyes.  How would/will you stitch yours? Holiday Gift Guide...

I was so excited this week to see (I'm probably the last to know) that Deb Perelman has organized all her recipes onto boards, including an entire board of food gifts. If you are on my Christmas list, please don't click this LINK ! This year, Katy and I have been working on a few little Christmas projects together (which may or may not include Smitten Kitchen's recipes...)that will be revealed post holiday, but for those of you still working on what to stuff into stockings this year, I thought I'd come around and offer some suggestions... These wrap bracelets are easy and fun to make following my friend and editor  Melanie's instructions on Creativebug .   A cozy and a cuppow!    My friend Cal makes these awesome granny square cozies for the Cuppow/Ball Jar combo.  I've got a cuppow that I mostly use in the summer for iced tea since the jars are too hot to hold onto with tea, but this solves that problem, with beautiful wool yarns in your choice of colors. ...
