Workshop Love and Travel Requests.....




First, let me say that I genuinely love teaching workshops.  I love meeting new people, and I love the collective energy that happens when fifteen or so people gather to make new things. Second, let me say that it was a true delight to TAKE a workshop for a change and not be in charge for the night.  I had so much fun in Courntey Cerruti's Image Transfer Workshop last night at the San Francisco Center for the Book.  My friend Jackie and I took it together.  The results were a blast!  We learned a whole bunch of different ways of transferring, many of which I had watched in Courtney's Creativebug class but had not tried.  I highly recommend taking one of her workshops if you're in the Bay area.  I'm of course biased since I admit she is my friend, but I think she is a really great teacher.

In other news- I'm in Califorrnia!  For a week!  I'll be working remotely on a bunch of projects while I'm here, and teaching at A Verb for Keeping Warm (are you coming?!) but I've also got a little time to spare for sight seeing and eating.  I would love your recommendations.  I love donuts, and I can't wait to go to Pepple's.  Where else should I go?  What would you not want to miss?

Samplers of the Month: Pansies and Feather Stitches...

I spent Friday packaging up everyone's monthly subscriptions, and somehow managed to get them out the door and into the mailbox before Saturday.  Some of you might even have them on your kitchen counters by now.... I've been having so much fun sitting in the glow of the radiator stitching these Colorburst Samplers in the late afternoons.  In a season without a lot of color, they make me really happy.   This one, Pansy, is in the mail now.  I stitched mine with back stitch, running stitch, french knots, and Algerian eyes.  How would/will you stitch yours? Happy New Year, and a deadline.......

Happy New Year everybody!  This year, the holidays felt more welcome than ever.  I had a very busy December, and relished almost every minute of my break.   It felt so good to bake cookies and lounge around, to indulge in this fabulous cocktail, and to catch up on last season's Downton Abbey.   Things are slowly getting back to normal around here, with the rogue cocktail and bits of Babka left over from New Year's Eve popping up now and then.   I mean, it would be too bad to say goodbye altogether to the merriment, no? In the spirit of the new year, I'm in the midst of a big reorganization in the studio.  It's too much of a horrible mess right now to show you a picture, so I'll show you this... the in process view of this year's first sampler.  Thank You so much to everyone who has subscribed!  I am starting to address your envelopes this weekend, and can't believe just how many of you there are!   If you are still thinking of Subscribing , ...

Goodbye? No, Hello!
